The Brutes probably stayed behind when Regret jumped. The fleet being there is hard to explain. The majority of the fleet arrived during Coastal Highway. The rest was probably just a small scouting force. this would have to mean that all the events in Halo 2 from the level "Delta Halo" and onward would take about six hours in total, as the Master Chief arrived when the second battle of Earth was already in progress which was about when the ships where ariving in coastal highway. :To me, it seems that Emile mounted the Mass Driver by his own initiative, and Keyes sent a SPARTAN, instead of the Marines to Mount the gun after Emile was killed because A: It's just eight troopers, many (or possibly all) of whom would be killed fighting thier way to the gun; B: SPARTAN-B312, with his/her augmentations and experience would be more likely survive long enough to cover the Autumn during her departure; C: SPARTAN B312 feels they need to honor their teammates by helping others off the planet, and Keyes understands this; D: B312 hopes to help Emile, and Keyes, with his dedication to others, understands; or a combination of all 4. In addition, from the author's standpoint, you can't really place a reasonable explanation as to why Keyes did not deploy 2 additional SPARTANs, Emile and B312, in a game you released 10 years ago. Also, blasting that Covenant son of a bitch outta the sky seems much more a rewarding ending than watching 2 Spartans sit in a pelican and do nothing. Just some thoughts. --Turbogruntman117 16:23, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

*The Banshees at the beginning of the level cannot be used by the player, even if the Elites are killed with the Banshee still intact.
*The line, "this cave is not a natural formation" was admitted by Bungie to be a somewhat useless line due to its obviousness. Originally, the cave in question was meant to look natural, and the line was meant to indicate that only Cortana could tell that it was artificial. However, the developers didn't want to spend time creating all the geometry for the tunnel, so they ended up keeping the tunnel in a blocky Forerunner style. Despite this, Cortana's line was never removed. Halo: Reach Legendary Commentary

The cover at the center provides a good view of much of the map and most attacks must go by it making it a good way to intercept incoming attacks. A good way to attack the hill is to use your units special abilities. A few RPGs will make them take a lot of damage. Also use flamethrowers to burn them out of cover. Many players will occupy every cover on the map even those near enemy bases making a near perfect defense grid to warn you of enemy attacks as soon they leave the base. Also if the attack is not stopped by the time it arrives to your base it is nearly destroyed. Consequentially those close to enemy bases are taken early if playing online. Also early in battle there is often competition between you and your ally to take the Forerunner Bonus Reactor so don't depend on it. It is often useful to wait till late in the battle to try and take the Forerunner Supply Elevator because if the enemy has it their troops are likely not as strong or numerous as if it was rebel occupied. It is also useful to rely on air units or uber units because all bases but those you begin with are in narrow canyons making large armies difficult to maneuver. It is also useful to take advantage of the supply crates laying around at the start and the extra building sockets and in the center cover are large piles of supply crates.

As UNSC, it is best to make a barracks as your second building and pump out a few flamers to secure the resource hook. As Covy, go temple first only if you are a bad ass and secure the resource hook with a unit made from your base. Do not go temple first if the enemy across from you is a UNSC player since he can steal your hook back with just 2 flamers.
